Image Guardian™

Protection should never be compromised

We understand the importance of respectful imagery, safeguarding and appropriate representation, and creating websites and newsletters that don’t rely solely on student faces for visual impact while still feeling warm, engaging and authentic.

Our Image Guardian module helps schools track consent, identify who appears in published images, restrict automated access to those images, and quickly remove content if consent is withdrawn or an image is misused. It is designed to protect students and staff without adding friction to the way schools already publish newsletters and website content.

Note that this product can only be used in conjunction with our website and/or newsletter products.

The features liked by more than 2,000 schools and 11 dioceses

Schools shouldn’t have to choose between celebrating their school and student achievements and keeping their students safe online. Image Guardian removes that ultimatum.

Removes concern around consent

Image Guardian doesn’t replace your media consent processes. Instead, we are adding another layer of protection after consent to publish is given. So you can celebrate school and student achievements without the worry.

Removes the threat of AI

Today’s AI world poses threats to the safety of your data, IP, and most importantly, your students. Image Guardian can blur images so AI scrapers can’t take them – because it needs a physical touch to unblur the image for people to view it. You can also choose to blur images with faces by default when they’re uploaded, with the clear image only served once a user actively clicks to view it. And because nothing loads unblurred until that click, AI tools and search engines can’t scrape a usable copy of the image – directly countering the “harvesting behaviour” eSafety has highlighted. Furthermore, each click to reveal an image is logged, recording signals such as IP address, location and browser, to help identify anomalous or automated access.

Support to manage the system

If you’re not sure how to use Image Guardian effectively, you can let us – the tech company with the experience – manage it with you.

Helps with consent checks

With Image Guardian, you can tag students in images where their faces are recognisable, and the system will then check for consent. For example, a student’s face features in a sports day image in the school’s newsletter. This image is about to be published. With just a couple of clicks, Image Guardian can help identify this student, and the consent status, so you can protect the children, and your school.

Unlimited training and support

We offer unlimited training and support from real people who really understand. Across Australasia, our team all live and breathe education systems and are there to assist staff and parents/guardians who need a little extra help. We’re here for everything – including the small stuff.

Safety and compliance certainty

Our system adheres to compliance, security, accessibility, and best practice standards.

Image Guardian adds yet another protection layer – a governance layer for images. It has been designed to directly address the risk areas eSafety has flagged: unclear or unmanaged consent, images that are easy for bad actors to scrape and misuse, and slow or manual processes for removing content once harm has occurred.

Quorn Area School SA

The team at Schoolzine have been nothing but friendly and helpful.

Quorn Area School in South Australia swapped its black-and-white paper newsletter for an accessible digital newsletter, mobile app and custom-built website. Since Schoolzine launched in the school community, outreach to parents and friends has grown tenfold.
Mount Annan High School NSW

SZapp is amazing! It is a one stop shop for all families.

Mount Annan High School in NSW needed one simple platform shared with a neighbouring school. Messages now go out across email, app, website, RSS and SMS from one control panel, and SZapp puts newsletters, notes, calendar, notifications and payments in one place for families.
Nazareth Catholic Community SA

We are now able to engage with our families in a variety of ways.

Nazareth Catholic Community spans an Early Childhood Centre, a two-campus R–12 college and family services, with more than 1,500 families to keep informed. Its Schoolzine eNewsletter lets families filter by year level, campus and event, and the weekly newsletter now takes considerably less time to produce.

FAQ

What exactly does Image Guardian do?

If you have our newsletter and/or website tool, then Image Guardian is an additional module that can help add an extra layer of protection for your students and your school. It helps address unclear or unmanaged consent, images that are easy for bad actors to scrape and misuse, and slow or manual processes for removing content once harm has occurred.

Yes, Schoolzine is safe. We have enterprise-grade security, ST4S-approved status, and our Image Guardian tool enables non-scrapable face blurring on images.

Schoolzine’s difference is our team. We are all human (no bots). We live locally, across Australia and NZ. And we live and breathe education communication systems – and that’s all we do. Our focus is 100% on maintaining and improving a system that simply works, and works simply. We understand dioceses, large schools, small schools, multi-campus schools, and we understand your specific needs and nuances. We’ve built the Schoolzine system and implemented updates purely based on diocese and school feedback, to ensure it really does address your needs, even when things change. We also offer unlimited training and support. And you will always get a quick response, and a human answering the phone.

The cost of Schoolzine depends on which tools you choose to use. We’re about one third of the price of some comparable tools on the market, and could work out less expensive than the cost of using manual tools such as phones and spreadsheets. For small schools, you can use the same platform big schools use, scaled for your budget.

Yes, we offer a free demonstration of the system so you can see how it works and understand the benefits it can bring. Book a demo here.
