A National Privacy and Security Initiative for Digital Products in K-12 Education
The Safer Technologies for Schools (ST4S) initiative has been created to enhance the security, privacy, interoperability, and online safety of software applications and services widely used in schools across Australia and New Zealand.
This initiative aligns with standards endorsed by all education authorities in Australia and New Zealand, benefiting the territory, Catholic, and independent school sectors, and aiming to create a unified educational community.
How This Impacts You
- For Schools: Access independent testing and assessments of products and services, identifying generic risks and recommending mitigations.
- For School Leaders, Families, and Teachers: Benefit from products and services meeting higher standards.
- For Students: Experience a unified assessment process that supports and aligns with results recognised and valued by all stakeholders.
Who Manages ST4S?
ST4S is overseen by Education Services Australia (ESA) in cooperation with state and territory governments, the Catholic and independent school sectors, and the Ministry of Education in New Zealand.
Schools can access vendor reports via their relevant education authority.
